How did you start your business?
Leap of faith. It was a turning point of my life when I thought of what I am currently doing that time doesn’t really define my values. So I said to my sister that i want to set up a business where people will consult me for help. At that time I still don’t know what line of business I will start. I weigh my strength which is my persuasion skills and negotiation. And then had to get into my passion which is helping people and volunteer works. So I discovered my sweet spot and stayed there until the opportunity arises to set up the Recruitment business.

Why did you decide to go into this line of business in the UAE?
UAE have a lot of opportunities to offer to start up companies.

What were the highs and lows of setting up your business? High and Low Moments
Highs on the feeling of excitement and liberation. The excitement of implementing and putting into actions all what you have planned. feeling of satisfaction and success of stepping out from your comfort zone. And when I took the leap of entrepreneurship it’s like the same feeling when you are in queue in Ferrari World to ride the Formula Rossa only this time it’s going to be a long and bumpy ride.

Lows– when one of those days that you have to do everything and it is overwhelming. And at times there are decisions that you have to do it on your own. Setting up the system was difficult as well because i don’t know how and where to start.

What was your best day at work?
Whenever we give the good news to the candidates that they are accepted and will be sending the offer letter. Another best days are OPen day Recruitment, wherein clients will come to have a recruitment trip and it is so much fun inviting candidates and it feels like you are opening a big door of opportunity to all.

What was your worst day at work?
When candidate will decline the offer letter and we have to replace them. When there was one incident that the candidate changed her mind on the same day she is to fly here in Dubai. It was a big disappointment with one of our most valued client. When client cancelled a project after issuing all the working visas, though they did refunded all the medical expenses of the candidates. But all this incidents has been a learning point to us that improves our systems and procedures in selecting out candidates and clients as well.

How did you manage to fund or finance your business?
From personal money and my best friend who have always been supportive of me.

Who has been your greatest influence in setting up this venture?
Dr. Saeed Al Ghufli, played a very integral part in mentoring me in my business. He have the expertise on the operations and systems. He inspires my values and principles. He have been my mentor and my coach. He pushed and challenged me and always believe in my abilities. Another person is Jay Fernando, the VP of Magsaysay Global Services. He is also mentoring me on personal and business level as he have been an expert in the industry.

What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs when setting up their businesses?
Make sure that you have the right people around you. Have a mentor, an individual who have the experience and expertise in the field. Make sure you have the right personal branding, the right attitude. Stay focus and know what you want. Find your passion and strength and make a business out of it. Make sure that what you will do is in line with your values. When you find your passion and use your strength to stay there and make it work. Be an expert on that field.

Describe any amusing or strange experiences, or interesting moments (an incident that happened that you will never forget) that took place while establishing or running your business.
When a candidate backed out last minute when all is set and ready for deployment few hours before her flight. Worst is you can’t do anything if they decided not to go. And i have to find the right words how to apologize to the client, for the inconvenience. Another incident when a candidate have been selected for a Managerial Position and when we were applying for his visa we found out that his educational background and documents are fake!!! There are times i just want to disappear. But with this kind of situation I make sure to visit the client personally and apologize. So we have to give the next placement a discount or sometimes for free, to keep our relationship with our client.

Describe any challenges you experienced and how you overcame them.
Cash flow is one major challenge because there are clients delayed in paying the invoices, we need to chase clients every now and then. Accounting works and admin stuff is a challenge when you are starting a business, so we outsourced. Another challenge is managing mobile employees, so we set regular meetings every week and everyday make sure that they submit their daily schedule.

As Zig Ziglar says ‘ you will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want”.

Did you ever think you will be what you are today?
Yes, because I have already envisioned this and ordered to the universe several times.
